| With the demise of
the merit breeder program, there is no list available to
Beefmaster breeders, official or otherwise, to identify
performance breeders other than the weights and measure
logo in the membership book.
A few serious breeders take advantage of many of the
performance data tools available to the beef cattle
industry in their daily operations. This registry
is available to these breeders to let the rest of us
know who they are and exactly what data they collect and
make available through the BBU.
The goal of this registry is to identify performing
Beefmaster cattle whose performance can compete with all
the breeds, whether it be birth, weaning or yearling
weights, feed efficiency or gain, carcass traits
identified by ultrasound or DNA testing, EPDS,
conformation classification or just profitability so
that our beefmasters as a breed can compete in a more
effective way. |
